National Broadband Ireland Wins Overall Excellence at the National Procurement Awards 2025

Taking stock of 2025’s most impactful procurement initiatives, the National Broadband Ireland (NBI) has been named the Overall Excellence Award winner at the National Procurement Awards 2025, also securing the Best Public Sector, Semi-State or Government Procurement Project of the Year category for its landmark National Broadband Plan.

Judges praised NBI for delivering one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes in the State’s history, noting that the project sets a new standard for procurement and project delivery.

“Through innovation, collaboration, and strategic vision, NBI is transforming connectivity for communities nationwide, driving long-term social and economic impact. This achievement reflects a commitment to integrity, partnership, and performance at every level of the organisation,” the panel said.

As the company delivering the Government of Ireland’s National Broadband Plan, NBI is responsible for the largest State investment since rural electrification. Volatile supply chains, and high inflation, five years into its rollout NBI is proudly delivering on time and on budget in this extremely high-stakes project.

As this NBI’s headline wins sets benchmark-setting procurement projects, this year’s awards highlighted a diverse range of projects that exemplify strategic procurement, sustainable practices, and value-driven outcomes, reflecting the growing importance of procurement in shaping Ireland’s economic and social infrastructure.

This year’s awards were presented at the Gala Ceremony last 6 November 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, bringing together leaders from across the public, private, and semi-State sectors.

The National Procurement Awards annually celebrate individuals and organisations redefining excellence in Ireland’s procurement sector, recognising innovation, efficiency, and impact.
