Ernco Group wins €3.2 million contract to replace road signs in Ireland
Ernco Group, headquartered in Derrylin, Northern Ireland, has been awarded a €3.2 million contract alongside three other firms to replace speed limit and other road signs across the Republic of Ireland.
The deal, secured through the local authority framework, underscores the growing role of SMEs in national procurement programmes and cross-border government contracts.
The contract expansion is accompanied by the creation of six new roles in Fermanagh, supported by Invest Northern Ireland, adding approximately £217,000 (€250,000) in annual salaries to the local economy. The positions include management, technical, and sales roles, with an Associate Director already appointed to lead Ernco’s growing consultancy services.
Ernco Group manufactures permanent and temporary road signage and provides a range of traffic management and street furniture products. Its consultancy services now extend to ISO compliance, health and safety advisory, and temporary traffic management design, reflecting its enhanced capabilities following recent investments in new machinery and staff training.
Seamus Owens, Director at Ernco Group, highlighted that support from Invest NI over nearly two decades has been critical in enabling the company to compete for large government tenders. Investments in machinery have doubled production capacity, reduced non-reusable waste, and enhanced overall efficiency, strengthening Ernco’s ability to meet large-scale national procurement requirements.
Ethna McNamee, Head of Regional Business for the Western Region at Invest NI, noted that Ernco exemplifies the organisation’s strategy of combining sustainability with global ambition. The company’s upgraded production facilities and expanded consultancy services position it to continue competing for high-value contracts in Ireland and beyond.
